Kian has been actively involved in local theater and improv. His credits include South Pacific (Civic Light Opera), Oscar-nominated Roommates, and Sex and the City (1998). He's appeared in national and regional commercials. He is also a screenwriter and novelist: his debut novel, The Pacific Between, won an IPPY Book Award. He was selected as one of Pittsburgh Magazine's 25 most beautiful people and was featured on WQED. He appeared on NPR Talk of the Nation speaking on racial representation in Hollywood.
